Anyone women have experience going no bra or bralette at a higher weight?

Pudge Princess:
28f 240lbs right now, so when I was a young chonk (even at my high weight) I wore a bra all the time: being young and embarrassed, comforming to societal norms was super important to me. When I lost weight though, I got used to not needing one. The idea of going back just brings up uncomfortable itchy nightmares, and you know... underwire being a thing 🙄

TMI TIME YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I'm mostly worried about sweat (which also makes me itchy as my skin is finicky), or getting my nipple piercings either caught on something or infected (likely because sweat).

I like the idea of bralettes because I've seen a lot of cotton, lace, or mesh ones that seem incredibly comfortable and breathable - though I haven't deep dived just on amazon I've seen some hella cute ones up to 5x which is plenty of room to grow for now. But do they even work though?

I've done sports bras before, but they are too consticting, and clearly I'm still going au natural currently to even need to ask advice lol, but I am already noticing that some days I have to tuck my dress under my tits because my bars are getting super irritated.

So just wondering if any ladies want to share some secrets on their support choices, especially if you are also pierced 😭 I mean like, has anyone gotten an infection?? Any brand recommendations? Just general help thanks 🥵

Please pardon my not being a woman, but I had to add here that my wife recently got a bralette and loves it. She’s a 46 DDD and enjoys the comfort level it brings. I help her fix the hook in the back so it clips in the center of her back, which helps show off each tattoo she has on her shoulder blades ;-)

She, too, finds underwires and plastic bands uncomfortable. Often she resorts to wadding up paper towels under her bra to make it not as pressing against her luscious rolls.

I'm the proud owner of a 36D rack. A bra is a support item. It doesn't do a whole lot besides that.

Bras come in many styles. I personally adore wire free bras with lightly lines cups.

If you find sports bras constricting, you may be wearing the wrong size. Your typical low impact sports bra should be no more constricting than a tank top. They also come in several different shapes, so you might need to see which one you prefer.

I don't mess with bralettes because they offer no support for me. I'm a very active person. But if you live a more sedentary life, you might like them.

I haven’t worn a regular bra for a couple of years now. Once I outgrew my bras I just never replaced them.

My boobs are big, I have no idea what size but definitely big.

I did grab a couple bralettes for moments I don’t want to be swinging everywhere, like when I go to physical therapy. 😅

I also never wear underwear and can’t stand them either. I also ALWAYS wear dresses.

I don’t like bands of constriction around me.

I have zero intentions to change anything up.

I also like the bralettes because they can just be worn as outer clothes with skirts when they’re cute like this one!

I have always really hated bras and I think it's because I've never been sized right. I've had "DDs" since middle school but I know my body has changed a lot I think I'm closer to like a G or something but I've tried and spent so much money on bras that just offered no support or hurt my back even more, dug in, ones that my boobs would just slide out of?!
During the first shutdown I temporarily lost my job for a few months and enjoyed not having to wear a bra for that time, when it was time to go back to work it was the worst thing to have to go back to wearing them. I ended up ripping the wires out of one but I could still barely cope. Quit my job for good recently and found the joy of bralettes. Just enough "holding" so the girls don't go flying but comfortable. Feels like wearing a tank top basically. I just got the cheap front closing fruit of the loom ones and I love them. It came as a set of three but only one had padding in it so that's my "going out" bra. Basically so my nips aren't showing. And I only wear my structured real bras for dressing up. It's so freeing honestly.
