"why are the plus-size champions shrinking before our very eyes?" by chloe elliot4 months

A very interesting article, anyone:

"[...]
What I find most frustrating is when a respected plus-size celebrity or a model chooses to lose weight, they claim to have a new lease of life now that they’re slimmer.
[...]
This really doesn't sit well with me as they’re essentially saying that their life wasn't OK when they were bigger - not a great message to project to a potentially all plus-size following.
I can even see why some women would feel ‘betrayed’ to see their favourite curvy role model three sizes lighter.

That person they admired for loving their bigger body - different from the ‘norm’ - celebrating their rolls, stretch marks and curves has essentially sold out and conformed.
If these women chose to change their bodies for whatever reason - that’s fine.
Your body, your life.
But it still makes it difficult to digest when there are barely enough plus-size role models as it is.
I can’t wait for the day where we regularly see body confident plus-size women in the media completely unashamed of their bodies, and proving that you CAN be happy without striving for weight loss.
[...]
It is a shame that even as adults, so many successful plus women in the media still feel the pressure to shrink, meaning one less curvy role model for the rest of us."

Are you seriously taking an article from the sun serious?

Those guys are the polygon of hit journalism

And I already know that. I am only interested by what Chloe Elliot wrote in this link.

I didn't read the Sun article, but it has happened for years. Celebrities like Carney Wilson, Oprah, Roseann, Camryn Manheim and so many more. This upsets me too.

The fact that some bigger women want to lose weight doesn't really bother me in general (okay I lie... the hardcore Fat Admirer/Feeder inside me cry a river for them) .
But the point is that many of those celebrities actually embrased the cause, requestioned contemporary beauty standards and taken-for-dogmatic-truth prejudices, build up their fame around the Size Acceptance movement.

Shedding most of their extra curves and hollering aloud about how obesity is a bad thing, is a literal betrayal not only to the entire cause but also a shame they have to bring on all their lives, because people whenever their position might remember them for their dishonesty, their hypocrisy.

There are not that many role models for BBWs and BHMs, and it is a shame to see a role model denounce their size.

Unfortunately, I think BBW role models are likely to come, last, from TV and Hollywood.

The people in that industry are under a lot of pressure to be what they think society wants them to be. Until a clear majority of people express a like or even preference for larger females, they're going to try to keep their job options open by praising the virtues of dieting and staying slim.

Unfortunately, I think some of them start out as BBWs and get a few successful roles. People embrace them as pioneers of bringing "size acceptance" to the masses, but they soon realize thre's far more money and fame to be made losing the weight and then telling that story.....

Not too many other places for them to come from. Not too many fat athletes.

You have hypocrisy from the outset. They are already people who want fame and fortune and don't honestly stand for anything. If we accept them as role models it's the same as expecting a politician to carry out election promises. They will simply do what seems to help them the most.

To expect anything good from people who want your adoration or vote is to set yourself up for a fall.

Be your own role model.
