I'm able to lose weight, but not keep it off. And every time I gain it back, it happens faster and with less effort than the last.
I can't complain, as changing my natural behavior was one of my ultimate wishes. But I could not be skinny or even average again even if I wanted to. Hell, I only got down from "obese" to "overweight" for about 6 months before it flew back on.
Really, from both my experiences and others' I've seen, any significant weight gain is essentially permanent. You might be able to lose it, but those behaviors and especially the quantities of food that seem "normal" never fully go away. The good news is that if you had the preference to gain intentionally in the first place, it'll likely always be pleasurable or at least mixed if you gain more. And I have seen people successfully prevent further gain; it's just losing it that's nearly impossible.
