chapter 5
Hilda Pzybylski had made it her mission to fatten up Amanda Frazek, thinking this would get Max Braverman's mind OFF the "golden girl" of DePaul University Hospital. As a registered dietician, Hilda knew there were all sort of short cuts and artificial means of expanding Amanda's waistline. But she was also aware that most of them were detectable one way or another, and the last thing she needed or wanted to lose her job and STILL not get Max to notice HER!But being a skilled dietician she also knew there were two things that could contribute to an individual's weight gain. Portions and ingredients. And fortunately for HER, Max had put Amanda right where she wanted her, in her own capable hands.
So starting with breakfast that next morning, Hilda started to work her weight gain magic. Max laid out Amanda's menu for that morning. Two gluten-free pancakes, a 1/4 cup sugar free maple syrup, 2 rashers of bacon and a small banana. Hilda tweaked that a bit. She used regular flour for the pancakes and whole milk instead of skim. She substituted a 1/4 cup of honey for the sugar free maple syrup. She substituted a large banana for the small one and added two extra rashers of bacon. For the most part you couldn't tell one breakfast from the other, except that Max' breakfast had 500 calories while Hilda's contained a more "substantial" 800 calories
Dinner worked the same way. Max had Amanda down for four ounces of grilled chicken breast, a half cup of brown rice and steamed broccoli with a half cup of lo-cal rice pudding for dessert. Hilda changed that just a tad to 6 oz. of grilled chicken breast, a half cup of white rice, steamed broccoli with a pat of butter and rice pudding made with heavy cream. Max's dinner had 700 calories. Hilda's had 1500.
So instead of getting about 1200 calories from Max's kitchens, Amanda got 2300. The beauty of the plan was that everything Amanda ate was good, wholesome food. It's just that what she ate was just a wee bit more substantial But the great thing about the plan was that Amanda was totally oblivious as to what was going on and she was so turned on by "Max's" delicious cooking that she cleaned her plate at every meal.
According to Hilda's calculations, all things being equal, Amanda should have put on a couple of pounds that week. Certainly not enough to be noticeable, YET. But Hilda had a pretty good idea what time would tell, hehehe!!
