Chapter 2

Immobile? The two of them must be nuts I thought as I looked at them! Here Kate was, relatively young, rich and beautiful, married to one of the most gorgeous hunks I could possibly imagine, planning to....

"How do you mean "immobile" Kate? Are you ill?"

Kate looked a little flustered by my question, but Ted came to her rescue...

"Katherine and I enjoy fat, Linda. She likes to be fat, and I love her that way. Her appetite is, shall I say, stimulating to both of us, and as I have now completed the very successful housing development you drove through to get to our home, my third in the last four years, we are monetarily set. My business is booming, we have travelled extensively already, and now we have decided to fullfill our deepest emotional desires toward each other. Katherine wants to eat herself into immobile bliss, and I want to help her, and enjoy the product of her love affair with food every step of the way."

I was stunned and really sat back, with nothing to say. I had heard of Feeders and Feedees...everybody that works in a buffet for a week has, but I had never imagined them to be set up like this. Usually you imagine what you see on the afternoon talk-shows or the sweaty hulks going back for fourths at the Potato Bar! This was totally different, and I found myself strangley fascinated.

"So you want me to cook for Kate, Ted?"

"Of course I do. You two already get along well, and you share Kate's interest in foriegn cuisine. She wants to try food from all over the world though Linda, would you be willing to learnd to cook other foods, and eventually to help with some of the upkeep her immobiliy might entail? I will certainly make it worth your while."

As he said that I felt tingle along the nape of my neck. Worth my while? What could that mean? He was offering room and board, but what about the pay, and of course...

"As far as pay, I plan on starting you out at $50,000.00 for your first year with two weeks vacation. This includes your accompanying us on any trips we might decide we need to take, where you will have the chance to study local food culture. You can expcet the pay to dramatically increase should you prove to be the kind of cook and care-giver I think you are capable of."

Katherine had gone back to eating her Chinese and had a contented glow about her, having listened to Ted's description of their future together. I found Ted's tone and choice of words interesting and slightly provocative. I mean, he was adorable and also, rich!

"If you would like, I will show you to your suite and the kitchen, which I'm sure you will find adequate. I have enjoyed creating it with Kate and my goals in mind, and it will always be well stocked....Oh, I'm sorry Linda, you would like the job, wouldn't you?"

Moment of truth time...here I was, out of college for a few lost years, with no real responsibilities and no real opportunities either, being offered the chance to live in a mansion, in my own suite, in ground pool (I found out later there was one inside too) with an absolute stud for a boss...and all I had to do was practice my cooking skills and keep his little red-headed piglet eating well! Any self-respecting chef of fine cuisine would do what I did at that moment...certainly any female...I jumped at the chance!
