I was diagnosed with diabetes back in 2004. I was 320lbs at the time. I told my doctor that in fact I was going to get fatter. Gained close to another 200 lbs at my highest. So I took nutritional classes and yes I have gone from pills to pills and injectable insulin. I have managed to keep my A1c around 7. Normal is below 6. During extreme binge periods in my life I have been in the mid 8's due to my massive binges on my favorite comfort foods while on extended vacations. In gainer terms 3 to 4 weeks vacations on a 30 to 40 lb gain. But soon as I get back home I return to eating huge like a bodybuilder to maintain or grow when I choose to. For me I knew I was going to get diabetes as most of my family has it. Even the thin ones and most of us get diagnosed in our mid thirties but most of my family live well into their late 80's with out losing limbs, going blind or having kidney disease. There have been some members who have experienced these things but they usually those who chose to be very inactive and not manage their diabetes. Staying active is key to controlling and managing it. I mainly just take the dogs for walks and a little free weights. I do have injuries that were made worse by being a diabetic but I have recovered years ago and I am doing great. I love being this size.
