Once a big eater, always a big eater!

Chapter 2 - game time = snack time

I grew up in a town where skinny was sexy. Boobs didn't matter, ass didn't matter, what your face looked like didn't matter. If you were skinny, guys were going to think you were hot. Not only that, but there were barely even any fat people at my school, guys or girls! Personally I was never really fat, but I also wasn't a stick. Therefore, no one at my school ever seemed to find me attractive. It really didn't bother me. I found guys from other places, I had plenty of amazing friends and I really didn't feel like I needed the approval of any of the losers from my high school anyways!

But then the time rolled around during sophomore year when I found out that I was moving to Los Angeles. I was beyond excited to get to start over some place new where the kids at school didn't all know me since age 2. After seeing how guys treated me at my school and knowing that I was moving to a place where it was perfect bodies and summer all year round, I decided it was time to lose some weight. I went from 160 lbs to 135 lbs in just a few months! Sitting here writing this story I don't know how I survived dieting the way I did back then. I barely ate and it showed. It felt great having actually accomplished my goal to lose some weight, but it didn't take long until I got sucked back into my old fatty ways. ;)

Once I was in Cali I was happy with my body and didn't feel the need to diet anymore, so I simply tried to watch my portions and began to indulge in snacks from time to time, which was something I wasn't doing while dieting.

Another thing that I believe kept me somewhat in shape over the years was the fact that I'd always been an active child. My favorite sport was tennis and since I was starting a new school I decided to join the team to try and make some friends. Ironically enough though, being on the team actually ended up triggering my previous binge eating habits. Here's the deal... At my old school during our matches we'd have little snacks to pick from like a veggie platter from Costco, some pretzels, or whatever "healthy" item it was that week, but at my school out in Cali they went ALL OUT for snacks at matches. We had Subway sandwich platters and all sorts of delicious snacks that weren't necessarily all super healthy...it was heaven! And I couldn't keep myself away from the food. I most definitely ate the most out of all of the girls on the team, but no one ever said anything. Another reason as to why tennis contributed to bringing back my poor eating habits was due to the vending machines at the tennis and swim club where we would have our team practices at. Luckily for me, I joined the team the same year that they were doing construction on the parking lot and courts at the high school, so we needed to go elsewhere for practices. So as long as I had money, after every practice I would make sure no one from the team was around and sneak off to get at least two different sodas or monster energy drinks along with a variety of snacks. It was wonderful. It started a whole new level of binging for me. And I am so thankful it did.

More to come later! :)

Great story. It seems like it may have been a few years since the last chapter. I would enjoy hearing more about your big eating adventures. A girl who eats as much (or even more) than she wants is my kind of girl!

Wow! Is this a true story? It sounds exactly like my life! I am 23 and overweight and my family has never understood why. The way that you describe your relationship with food is just like mine. Thank you for writing this!
