The devil's back

chapter 2

Although Sam was embarrassed by her weight gain, her cravings were out of control now. She ate whatever she could whenever she could.
She would often binge at night into the wee hours of the morning. She would drive far out of town to buy food, then in the privacy of her home she would gorge herself until her stomach was stuffed beyond capacity, and she could do nothing but lie on the couch burping and belching surrounded by food wrappers.
After 6 months of this, Sam weighed herself and was shocked to find that she had hit 200 pounds. She wanted to die.

-----

Sam went into the locker room. She was furious with herself for letting herself get this bad.
She looked at herself in the locker mirror and screamed in frustration at her reflection. Then she tore into a packet of Twinkies that she found stashed in her locker. She loathed herself for doing it, but she couldn't stop.
After she had eaten the Twinkies, she sat down on a bench and sobbed.
"I'm such a baby." she thought angrily wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand.
As she was leaving the locker room, she ran into Jack. He immediately noticed that Sam had been crying.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Sam couldn't talk, and she couldn't bring herself to look at him.
"Come here." Jack said embracing her.
After he hugged her, she pulled away.
Sam looked at Jack with tears streaming down her face.
"I want to die." Sam whispered hoarsely.
Jack reached out and ran his fingers down the side of her face. He wished there was something he could say or do to make Sam feel better, but there was nothing he could do.

-----

That night Sam couldn't stop thinking about Jack. She softly cried to herself thinking about how now she was 80 pounds heavier than when she met him. Jack probably found her new size to be revolting, but this afternoon he was kind to her anyway. Why was that?
Ever since Sam developed her obsession with food, she had been treating everyone like shit, but today Jack had been kind to her anyway. This made Sam feel so mixed up and guilty, and her thoughts began to race.
Quickly she got out of bed and headed for the refrigerator. She needed to eat. She needed to eat ALOT. Then her thoughts would calm down, and then she could finally sleep.
