Chapter 2 - first day settled in

"There, that should be the last box," Roger claimed, setting the 'fragile' cardboard box onto the queen-sized springs of his bed. Claire turned him around, her body practically hidden in the over-sized red & white striped tee & denim shorts, & draped her arms around his sturdy neck, smiling.
"You're so sweet, dear," she cooed, as she leaned into him with a fairly passionate kiss. He had just wrapped his arms around her waist when her stomach gurgled long & loud between them. Claire pulled away in embarrassment. "Sorry, I haven't eaten anything all day."
"What am I gonna do with you, you silly goose?" Roger smirked as he tickled her engulfed sides. "I'm kinda not feeling like making dinner. Any ideas?"
"Well, I do have this hankering for kung pao chicken--" Claire's rumbling interrupted her own thoughts, her hands quickly covering the clothed belly in a failed attempt at keeping the noise down.
"Chinese take out it is," Roger chuckled as he reached for his mallard phone.

After paying for the bags & closing the door behind the delivery man, Claire & Roger stared at the bounty before them- kung pao chicken, broccoli beef, pork fried rice, egg rolls & spring rolls, tofu chow mein, crab rangu, sweet & sour pork, beef in black bean-garlic sauce, fortune cookies... the two looked at each other in disbelief.
"Did we really order that much food?" Roger asked, pulling out some napkins & silverware from his kitchen drawers.
"Well, look on the bright side, hunny," Claire said with fork in tow, "at least there'll be plenty of leftovers for later." With a kiss & a giggle, they dove into the feast before them- moans & slurps echoing in their ears as they inhaled noodles, crunched crispy won tons & sucked down MSG-ridden sauces. When they grabbed for their fortune cookies, Claire popped hers open & read the message as she chewed,
"Big changes await both financially & emotionally... huh, wonder what that means?"
"Guess we'll just have to wait & see, won't we?"
What containers were left of the food war held very little, between the two of them devouring nearly everything in sight- some black bean sauce dribbled down the side of its container, majority of its beef counterpart completely gone. There were only an egg roll & spring roll left each, & nearly all the fried rice had vanished. Claire sat back on the couch, patting her distended tummy that had been flat not 20 minutes ago- her shorts were unbuttoned as to feel some pressure relieved. She cuddled up, exhausted, with Roger, who seemed quite content with his arm around her slumped shoulder.
"Feeling better, are we, sweetie?" Roger nudged, but received no response as Claire had drifted off into a food-induced coma, the MSG gurgling in her gut, involuntarily moaning out of satisfaction.

Later that evening, Claire awoke to still sitting on the couch, the remaining containers having already been put into the fridge & her beau sound asleep in bed. She rubbed her little belly, the pooch flattened out since a few hours ago, & a low rumble taking its place- determining she was still somewhat hungry, Claire meandered into the kitchen, pulled out another fork, & chomped down the remaining Chinese. As there wasn't much left in the containers to start, her belly grumbled at her more until she found some leftover macaroni & cheese- the fairly large container full slowly disappeared as forkful after forkful slipped into her mouth & came back out clean. When the container had about a quarter of macaroni left, Claire really had a gut to her small figure. She groaned as she put the rest of the food in the fridge & made her way back to bed. Stuffed to what she thought was the brim, Claire kissed her sleeping beau & drifted off to sleep.
