Chapter 4 - we need to talk

Some time passed on & as their relationship grew, so did Claire's body- the somewhat loose-fitting suits she'd wear to work now were practically too small as her tummy & breasts filled her medium-sized blouse, her 8 pants gaining new shape with her well-rounded ass. Her thighs seemed more snug within the constricting pantleg & where she usually could button all 3 jacket buttons now she could only do 2. Roger became concerned with Claire's extra helpings at dinner each night- he liked knowing the both of them could do a workout together & manage to keep up with one another. He had had previous relationships end badly because of weight issues & he didn't want to lose another he felt so fond of. So, one evening at dinner, he made his move while Claire helped herself to seconds of the gumbo.

"Claire, we need to talk."

"What's the matter, sweetie?"

Roger struggled. "Ngh- uh, nothing's wrong, really."

"C'mon, Roger- I know when you've got something on your mind. Now, what is it?"

"Well, I'm just concerned about you, that's all."

"About me? What could possibly be concerning about me? I'm still employed, I'm still with you... what's the problem?"

"Yes, & it's all well & good that you're not in a slump- I just... well, I've noticed you've put on a few pounds." Claire gulped down her bite hard. Roger could tell this was upsetting. "That's not to say you're not beautiful- you always have been & always will be... I just get worried, sometimes, that you're not eating as well as you should be. I don't want to lose you to food- hell, I'm six years older than you, that's like losing a kid to an accident. Am I making any sense, hun?"

"I guess so... you know, you could've been a little less blunt about it," Claire huffed, finishing off her plate. "It's not like I'm committing murder or anything."

"That's not what I was implying- I just thought maybe losing a couple pounds would ease my conscience a little."

"I'll think about it. I'm not promising anything, but I'll at least give you the benefit of the doubt that the thought will run in my hamster wheel for a while." With her dinner finished & her fuse short, Claire left the table, put her dishes in the dishwasher, & went to bed, her tummy poking out from under her night shirt a touch.
