Remy and cyrus

Chapter 3

I was supposed to meet him at a diner near the campus at around seven. It was snowing and that dampened my mood a bit. I hated cold weather. I pulled my hat down as far as it would go that would still allow me to see properly while driving.

I wore a sweater that was blue and an even darker shade of blue in a striped pattern. My jeans were loose fit, but still showed off my muscled legs.

I went inside of the diner after parking my truck. It was called “Mary Jo’s” and they advertised the best fries in the state. I wondered if they were that good.

I was ten minutes early and found a table close to the back. The waitresses wore a garish pink outfit that looked outdated and painfully embarrassing to wear.

I got the most drained looking waitress in the entire place. Her hair was lazily tied back into a ponytail and she wore bright red lipstick.

“Hello, I’m Cara and I’ll be your server tonight.” I was anticipating her to yawn. “What can I start you off with?” She flipped open her order pad and pulled a pencil from behind her ear.

“Oh, I’m waiting on someone. But, I’d really appreciate a glass of water.” She nodded and walked off towards the kitchen.

“Water.” She said as she placed the glass on the table in front of me. She pulled a straw out of her apron and set it on the table next to the glass. “Would you like to order something while you wait…”

“Oh, there he is now.” Cyrus walked towards where I was sitting after dusting the snow off of his jacket. “Hey.” I said. Cara smiled. It was weird to see it because it was so energetic.

“Hi Remy. Hiya Cara!” He said to our waitress. “How are you doing tonight?”

“Oh I’m good Cyrus. I was worried I wouldn’t see you tonight.” She pulled out the pad and the pencil. “Would you like your usual?”

“Yes, that’d be nice.” He said.

“You sir?” She asked, still smiling.

“Oh, I’ll have an order of fries and a chocolate milkshake.”

“Sure thing, let me put that order in for you guys.” I noticed she mouthed the words ‘He’s Cute!’ as she walked past Cyrus to go to the kitchen.

Cyrus looked as cute as he always did. I liked him a lot more than other guys I dated. Something about Cyrus seemed really unique. He seemed so sweet.

He was wearing a pair of jeans and a loose hoodie, which I wished was at least tighter if I wasn’t going to get a less concealed look at his belly.

We gave a bit of small-talk and Cara came back with my milkshake and what I believed to be a root beer float for Cyrus. He sipped on it and I saw how much he enjoyed it. He was happy to be eating.

She came back with my fries and a huge burger and platter of fries, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks for Cyrus. This was his usual? He was even happier eating that than drinking the root beer float.
