It has come to my attention from a person I recently chatted with that most people that aren't from the southeast US don't know what grits are. Here's a link about this awesome breakfast treat that we southerns love to eat in the mornings most of the time! They're really fattening if you add more fattening things to it as you eat more and more!

Grits are the best! I like them very well cooked with LOTS of butter and about 3 eggs over easy on top, wheat toast and viola you have a great breakfast.

I personally have never had them... what do they taste like?
I assume they are like a fried lentil...

Amatrix, go try 'em. I really like 'em. Think of hot polenta before it solidifies, and that's kinda close. Sort of.

And you can have 'em sweet or savoury. The mushroom recipe looks great!
