Night time the easiest time to gain?

I've been reading lots of different posts that say eating before bed is good. What if you wake up in the middle of the night hungry....(I know it seems like a 'duh' question) should you ignore it and go to bed or would you make yourself get up and eat a bowl of ice cream with toppings? Especially if you are actively gaining?

Eating before bed may not hurt, but your metabolism isn't really affected much by sleeping, so it's not as effective a technique as most people think it is.

By all means, though if you wake up in the middle of the night and are hungry, go for it. Just be aware that if you find yourself getting bad indigestion from laying down afterwards, you may need to stop eating just before bed and do it a couple hours before instead.
