i would say get a variety of foods, way more than you think you could eat. get plenty of your favorite foods. get stuff you don't have to cook. eat at a steady pace. that's what i'd do.

It's also important to switch up what you're stuffing with, for instance if you're eating a lot of pastries the flavor can become cloying rather quickly. So have something salty/savory on hand to switch to in that event. The same is true for a lot of savory foods.
If I have something to switch between I find I can always eat a lot more without it becoming difficult to choke the food down.
