Gaining

I've finally hit 230 lbs

Sometimes that next 50lbs becomes very intriguing as well. But anyway, congrats on the growth Nate!

So does the next 50 pounds just happen on their own or will I most likely have to work at it?

How did it happen for you? I've known several people who have gotten chubby like I am now and in no time they gained a lot more weight and got really fat. There seems to be a tipping point and once you reach it the fat begins to pile on without much effort. And the funny thing is that everyone I know who this has happened to claim that they didn't try to get fat, lol. Hmm, perhaps they just feel guilty about it?

I don't feel like I ever really "worked" to gain the weight. Stuffing and all that was really fun for me so I guess that could be why I don't feel I worked at it. But I don't think there's a "tipping point" so to speak. Well maybe appetite wise.

The more you eat the more you can eat. And that's a lovely cycle wouldn't you say?

But anyway, I don't think the next 50lbs should be anymore difficult than the last 50. Might be a bit easier if you've managed to increase your capacity.

Now that you're 230, and well into obesity, you will find your weight gain accelerating. All that belly fat is excreting hormones that will cause any excess blood sugar to be stored as fat (insulin resistance). Even if you cut back, you will find that your weight will continue to increase. Only draconian steps can keep your weight stable now and losing will be very, very hard. Let's face it -- you're going to get very, very fat.
