Texture definitely plays a big role for me. I can stuff myself with pizza and always have some room left for a milkshake. When that's gone and I feel too stuffed to move, I can't eat another bite. But hand me a bag of crisps 5 minutes later and I'll gladly finish it, ten topping of with an ice cold coke.
