Gaining

Military life

I have been a lurker on here for years. I love the idea of gaining weight and watching people gain. I want to gain weight so badly but alas, I cannot. I am in the military and we have some pretty strict weight standards. I am conflicted almost everyday. I love to eat and stuff my face until it hurts to move. I just wish I could gain. Maybe in a few years once I'm out of the service I'll throw on a few pounds. I just want to know what it's like so bad. I want to jiggle when I walk. I want a big belly to rub and I really can't wait to grow out of my clothes. Once I'm able to gain, I'll be one happy guy. Is there anyone out there in my boat?

Klondike; I was for several years in the military reserves. I had to adhere to the weight standards and as an older reservist it was tough! I just retired just about this time last year and I have been gaining since, though slowly (I don't want stretch marks etc.) I have put on around fifteen pounds since I have not had to be weighed and measured for "BFA". My waist is up to forty four inches. I am still exercising but feeling the difference of the added weight. Hang in there, you will be rewarded! Ned Fox

That is true. On active duty most commands make exercise/working out part of daily routine to the point of making it mandatory. Once out, most men/women don't have the time to work out the way they did and were required to in the military. For we reservist it was more difficult, as we were held to the same standards but had to work out on our own, on our own time as well. The average age in the military is quite young. But in reserves the members tend to be a lot older, making it even harder to stay within standards. Ned Fox

I've been in ten years now and I'm going to stay for twenty. I like all the running and working we do. I just have to limit myself on what I eat and how much. I hope I can maintain a decent level of fitness while gaining when I'm done with the military. I'm not sure how feasible that will be but I'm greatly looking forward to a nice big belly.

Klondike: I'm glad to hear you are staying in! It is a great deal for you after your twenty. I get paid now,(reservist have to wait until age 60 to get paid.) Tricare, commissary and exchange use. Trust me it will be worth it. Just getting Tricare for you and your family's medical insurance is awesome.
As I mentioned I have been gaining. I still run every day and do push ups and sit-ups five days a week. As you can see by my photos, I not skinny, but when dressed in regular clothes, I don't appear really fat. The sit-ups keep my belly from bulging, unless I want it to bulge. Good luck and thank you for your service! Ned Fox (retired as an E-6 from the Naval Reserve)

The benefits are totally worth it. Tricare in itself is worth it. I know I'll always be active ( hiking, walking, maybe running) but I can't wait to let myself go and eat with no remorse. Hopefully whom ever I'm with at the time will be into it as well. If no one is, I guess I'll just rely on encouragement from here.

I felt the same way. I am gaining, though not a huge amount of weight, but mainly I'm eating what I want and not worrying about portions, etc. It was always a challenge to stay within standards especially at I got older. Good luck!
