Might be a bit of an odd one, but hey, this seems like a decent place to discuss this!

I have a weight gain fetish, my girlfriend knows about it but does not share it, in fact quite the opposite she is pretty against overweight people (wouldn't make her popular around here ha!)

Anyway, she understands what I like and in the time we've been together has put on a bit of weight (not intentionally, just relationship weight really and not much).

When we're getting uhm..intimate.. I always rub, pinch and squeeze her belly it as I really like it (especially as she used to have visible abs and now its a tiny bit pudgy), but I've noticed recently that when she's getting horny she starts doing the same to herself..

Now I don't really know much about fetishes and haven't really talked about it with anyone (besides her and even then not much), but is it possible that my preferences are rubbing off on her?

I agree with you, that this strong feeling (or fetish) may come from a positive association. You put this notion well. And the bottom line is that while curious about they why, we do owe it to ourselves to enjoy the heck out of this!
