Gaining

Measurements

MrsJellyBelly:
I use upper thigh measurements since it doesn't fluctuate with consumption/digestion

That is a terrific measurement Mrs.JellyBelly
I think it's the most reliable measurement for tracking fat weight gain.I always recommend that belly measurement should be somewhere near the belly button and around the love handles because that's where fat can accumulate and is less affected by digestion etc than the waist measurement.

Plus, for women, it doesn't vary with the time of the month!

Measurements

I started doing this years ago when I was losing weight, because I suck at losing weight and measurements are more reliable than a scale. Turns out it's been just as useful for keeping track of gaining over time!

There are a few areas that I always do, which allows me to keep track of my overall size, and the way my new weight is distributing across my body. The spots are:

Upper arm (above bicep). Hips/lower belly, butt, upper thigh, calf, and waist*

Measure each of these at their fullest area, except for the upper arms. Use a fabric tape measure and hold it snugly, but not tightly, around the area you're measuring. *Waist measurements are most reliable when done first thing in the morning. I hope this helps!

I like going with measurements rather than simply tracking weight gain. I'm currently at 212 lbs., forty-four inch waist, forty three inches around hip/butt. My mid-thigh is twenty five inches.
