I read stories of mothers fattening there kids now and then like on Dr. Phil etc. has anyone here done that ?
To avoid this being locked, I'll speak in general terms. There are cultures where being fat is a symbol of being rich/prosperity. Some cultures due to lack of disposable income find different ways to 'give thanks/appreciation' by sharing an overabundance of food. Hence wasting food is frowned upon. Some parents feel a sense of pride knowing they may not have much, but they provided the basics and if it results in fat children so be it. Better to be told to lose lbs, than the shame in not providing enough food for them on the table.
Like that Roseanne episode, where she blamed her obesity on her mother feeding her via a reward system for good grades etc. Though her mother replied in apology, that was what all she knew, being poor with lack of resources to know better etc.
