It is all based on how you feel about it. If it bothers you say something to them. If it doesn't then don't give it no mind.
I don't know the person, but you said they were also fat. Maybe he said it to show commonality with you. That you are both big guys and it's something you both share. Or they are being a judgemental ass. Personally I wouldn't take it as negative. But it all depends. Best wishes!
