Any accidental gainers on?

Which is why I never have beer or pizza but I'm still unable to maintain my weight. It just keeps rising.

If I get fat I think I'll just embrace it and let go of the control.

Why suffer if I'm going to get fatter no matter what I do?

Any accidental gainers on?

I started gaining about 18 months ago. In a sense it was 'accidental' since I didn't set any goals, I just started eating what I enjoyed and stopped worrying about staying slim, allowing any changes to happen by themselves. I have to say that I'm very happy with the results.

Glitter Jelly:
Am I the only one in this situation?

At age 33 my car was rear-ended and I went from riding my bike 20 miles/day to sedentary. By the time I finished physical therapy I had gained 50 pounds. Then I got a sedentary job and gained another 50 pounds. Since then I have cut way back on calories, exercise vigorously 3 times a week, but continue to gain slowly. 5 pounds a year has added another 50 pounds over a decade. If I hadn’t gone on a crash diet to lose 40 pounds fifteen years ago, I’d be over 300 now and headed to 400.

Many years ago my initial 25 pound gain kinda came out of nowhere. It wasn’t planned at all. The next 30 pounds are a different story lol.

Any accidental gainers on?

Just found this post (see page 1) from not that long ago... Haven't been able to lose any weight since then... Now some of size M clothes are getting tight, so I bought a few size L which I seen to reach for most days because I feel less self conscious in them.

It's a vicious circle that I can't seem to get out of, and I regret getting rid of most of my "fat clothes" as I lost weight.

It's like I thought I'd stay thin forever, against all odds and statistics. After a few years of maintaining a much lower weight (BMI around 22, when it used to be well over 30), I had convinced myself I was the exception to the rule. I'm not, and it's a brutal realization.

Waiting for an investigation in endocrinology because some of my hormones (prolactin especially) are at abnormal values. I hope they find what's wrong and it can be fixed, but I'm worried they'll conclude "nothing" is wrong with me and I'll have to accept the fact that I'll always be fat.

Prolactin? Oh boy. I hope you aren't having any nipple discharge.

But hormones can be fixed. I have PCOS, and my OB/GYN put me on birth control. I am in a lot better place mentally, emotionally, and physically. You'll be okay in the end.

I don't, at least not yet (it's been rising since at least February or March), but I feel a lot of the weight gain went to my chest.

Maybe it's in my head.

The other day, a friend of mine and I were joking that I should take advantage of this and try to milk myself to sell the milk. 🤦‍♀️

I suspect I might have PCOS (symptoms since my puberty hit: severe acne, hairloss, I gain weight easily, but I can't lose any unless I almost eat nothing, high prolactin is a symptom...) but:

- my last testosterone level was normal (according to my OB/GYN)
- my ovaries don't have any cysts (I know it doesn't rule out PCOS but with the other findings I guess it does)
- my anti mullerian hormone level was normal

I also have most (if not all) the symptoms of hypothyroidism but TSH, T3, T4 are all normal. TRH hasn't been tested yet.

It was pretty straightforward for me to get diagnosed. PCOS runs in my family, so I was familiar with the signs. I didn't do anything about it until it started causing quality-of-life issues. So I marched my happy tail to my OB/GYN and told him I wanted an official diagnosis.

My symptoms were pretty textbook, and one ultrasound later, he confirmed my suspicions and prescribed me the mini pill. Honestly, I've never felt better.

You may have PCOS, but it's also possible that it's something else. Like I said, hormone imbalances tend to be straightforward to fix.

For me it started as accidentally gaining weight, but when I came out of the shower and saw how fat I was getting I got so turned on and now I'm actively trying to get fatter (if the fact that I ate a whole box of twinkies on the same day I bought them and a whole plate of ham doesn't show that off haha)

Chubby Cow:
I’m an accidental gainer because of my yo-yo diet. No matter how much I lose I jut give up & give into my feedee side. Then I regain it all back & extra.

Slowly increasing my set point of the years.

All my accidental gaining has helped me to reach moderate obese levels of fatness. Definitely love being this big. Hopefully my next big gain will be soon.

Similar situation here, but due to anorexia. I've lost 30 lbs at 15, went up to 180+ lbs.

I eventually stopped weighting myself so I don't know just how fat I got, but I was around that weight when I had my relapse at 35 and lost 90 lbs.

I'm already up at least 50 lbs from my lowest weight, but most of that gain happened in the last months since my dad passed and I had a lot of stressful events happen one after the other.

I hope my set point hasn't increased, but the way I've been gaining lately I'm terrified I'll overshoot my highest weight (I'm not sure if that was my set point because I was still gaining about 4 lbs a year every year, but because I was trying to restrict calories and avoid junk foods I was constantly grazing and would binge on sweets).
