Gaining

Two part problem

So I'm having trouble dialing down my eating. I'm addicted to feeling full and food in general. Last week I averaged 4500 calories a day. This was after a month or so of eating about 3000 a day. What I don't get is I only gained a single pound (1.2) from my previous weigh in a week earlier. It's good because I wanted to slow down. I had been gaining 2-3lbs a week. But it doesn't make sense, I ate more calories than I had been and barely gained.

My worry now is that if I am able to ween off eating a bit (a big if lol), will I lose weight? Even if I stay in a calorie surplus for my daily requirements?

My guess is that you’re under estimating how many calories you consume just to metabolically function while also underestimating how many calories you burn in daily activities

You need around 4500 calories just to sustain 350

I've looked at a few weight gain/calorie requirement calculators based on age, height, weight, activity level and rate of gain. I've seen as low as 2250 and as high as 2500 calories per day for my 205 lbs (for now) to gain. Who knows how accurate the calculators are? I over shot the target by over 2000 calories per day last week.

That’s the thing there only as accurate as how precise you are being in your variables. I would just keep at it despite fiction you don’t get magically fat overnight it’s a process. It helps to love eating and stuffing

It’s a lot like going to the gym people who are serious don’t do their reps and sets then get discouraged after a few days with no results, they just keep at it. Same thing with gettin fat.

I do love eating and stuffing hahaha. In my years of gaining and losing, I've never plateaued this quickly. Maybe this past week was just an anomoly. Just seems strange to me.

Yes, you have to maintain your calorie intake level for a while to have a lasting, reliable effect. You may be really full and heavy and bloated after a day of extreme stuffing and taking in lots of extra calories but the few pounds of food and water retention you have added that day will dissipate soon enough if you don’t provide a steady stream of extra calories over a longer time period.

So I guess it was an anomoly. My last weigh-in had me up 1.2 lbs and it didn't make sense to me. Today's weigh-in had me up 6.4 lbs - more than making up for last week. Haha.

I've gained 18 lbs since the begining of July and now weigh 212.8. I love it! But I really do need to slow it down. I wasn't upset about only gaining 1.2 lbs last week. It was just weird given how much I ate. Now I just have to figure out how to eat less. Tough when you love doing it!
