At what point would you consider yourself "conventionally fat"

Curious to what everyone's thoughts were on this. Obviously a bmi of 25 or more is technically considered overweight, but people with a bmi of 25 typically look normally sized. Is there an actual weight/size/bmi that you would consider someone to have become a bonafide fatty?

I'd say it's less about BMI and more about body comp and how you carry your weight.

But from there it comes down to personal opinion. For example, a lot of thick women and built men are technically fat. But very few people classify them as such.

Everyone is different. In my personal case, I felt properly fat, as opposed to just thick or chunky, when my BMI hit 40.

I don’t think it’s a size thing it’s more of a self acceptance mentality one gets into, but I was at least 300. That’s when I started to eat for the sake of eating and it was comforting and fun etc not that it wasn’t before that time it’s just wasn’t a conscious thing I did I didn’t care about “being skinny” or whatever

I agree with those who say it's more about body shape than BMI. I am 5'3, and only once in my adult life, I dipped below 200. My BMI would have been 33.7 at my smallest, but I definitely didn't feel fat, just chubby. Around 250, I start to have a very round look, and at 350, I look fatter than most people the average person sees. That's exaggerated by my fat distribution, which is mostly concentrated in my midsection.

I do find BMI useful when trying to roughly compare sizes without having to consider height too much, though not perfect and shape still matters.

Anyway as someone who went from never eating to having a BMI of 32 (very belly centric), I feel like I'm starting to cross that line lately. Like there gets to a point where you just have to work "fat" into your identity, because "chubby but can hide it" stops being accurate for you.

But then, people are saying the fun doesn't really start till a while after this. Which is exciting smiley
