Welcome to August, hope everyone's summer is hot and sultry, or for folks in the Southern Hemisphere, hope you're having fun with those toilets spinning backwards. I know I would.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Eavesdropping event last month -- if you didn't read Tayto's story and watch her videos, you *really* should. They were amazing.

Different tack this month, and we'll do the Q&A I threatened a little while back. Like all of our events, this is open to everyone, you don't need to feel like you're some kind of writing superstar to participate. Everyone is welcome.

I thought it might be fun for us to open up a little more about our history with writing, what we like to write about, and what we want to be when we grow up. So share as much or as little as you feel comfortable, and please feel free to comment and make it a discussion.

1. How long have you been writing?
>well for over a decade now, since college when the internet was still fledgling and new. Stories were not as they are now, nor were forums, so I wrote things that interested me. Some of which I have updated and published here.
2. What genre would you say you write?
>Fiction mostly with a twist of a reality that could or could not have happened IRL.
3. Have you taken classes or received instruction for creative writing? What did you enjoy, and what did you dislike?
>no formal writing, just hoping spellcheck and I continue to get along.
4. What are some of your favorite writing reference books?
>I usually incept anything that I read. My brain tucks away ideas that eventually bubble back to the surface and then I am off writing a new story.
5. What do you think is the biggest problem you need help with in your writing?
> time. I work fulltime, so keeping pace with my story and ideas and writing / editing / continuity policing gets time-consuming. Love it though; the struggle is real, but rewarding.
6. What are your writing goals for the next 12 months?
>To continue to write what my subscribers are interested in. I am blessed to be able to receive a little money back, and so I want to continue to provide value for dollar spent.

1. How long have you been writing?
I wrote a lot in high school and maybe a little less in college, but picked it up again more seriously in 2022, and I've tried to write every day since then.

2. What genre would you say you write?
You name it. I've written a lot of horror or thriller in the past year, but I try to do a little bit of everything. Humor, lit fic, a little SFF.

3. Have you taken classes or received instruction for creative writing? What did you enjoy, and what did you dislike?
I took a great creative writing class in college and it was super valuable for learning how to read and critique other writing. How to receive criticism, too. Definitely valuable

4. What are some of your favorite writing reference books?
For straight up reference, Strunk and White is always handy, although probably less so with the internet. For "how to" books, Stephen King's 'On Writing' is the best as far as I'm concerned. Especially because it's a book you can just read as an interesting book.

5. What do you think is the biggest problem you need help with in your writing?
I still struggle with discipline. I want to get to the point where I do four hours a day rain or shine, but I'm not there. Two is a good day right now. I need to read more. I need to not give up on projects when they have promise.

6. What are your writing goals for the next 12 months? I have a work in progress on this site that I want to finish. It will be good. There's a prequel for that one that I've started, too, that will be better, but I don't think I'm going to jump right into it. I really want to finish a 3rd draft for my book (fantasyfeeder.com/weight-gain-stories/view/title/what+a+long+sleep+you%E2%80%99ve+had/author/Letters+And+Numbers) and do something with it. I have the notes, it's just effort.

1. How long have you been writing?

- Difficult to say, really. 20ish years? They’ve morphed over the years, starting on my floppy disks and moving to AIM role play, then to some forums and trying at writing.com. After haunting this area and DeviantArt for a decade, I figured I’d give it a go here with paying subscribers!

2. What genre would you say you write?

- Contemporary fiction mostly, but I’ve had some fun (for me) fantasy bouts. I’ll probably even have some more!

3. Have you taken classes or received instruction for creative writing? What did you enjoy, and what did you dislike?

- No formal training, I guess! I went to school and studied language. I’ve written a lot for myself and for school, now for work, so if that counts!

4. What are some of your favorite writing reference books?

- Google for grammar as needed! Other stories I’ve read inspire me to an extent for sure!

5. What do you think is the biggest problem you need help with in your writing?

- Time, totally. I have a full time job, family, 3 dogs. I live a pretty secret life with this part of me, so finding time just for me to look into this is another layer to that.

6. What are your writing goals for the next 12 months?

-To build a fan base that actually wants to read stories written by me, to put out quality stories, to make some kind of schedule for posting, maybe developing interactive relationships with my followers, branch out with my themes. Lots of things!

Only a year or two, I was being pervy and reading stories on here and DeviantArt for a while before I actually decided to contribute and see what I could do.

2. What genre would you say you write?

I like reading fantasy and crime books when I can. I guess I like to write realism with fantastical elements, but don't feel tied down to anything.

3. Have you taken classes or received instruction for creative writing? What did you enjoy, and what did you dislike?

No writing classes, but I have two masters degrees so I'm used to writing long form essays and self editing... Feel like I *should* try a creative class some time but I don't know if I ever will lol

4. What are some of your favorite writing reference books?

I guess just thinking about how some of my favorite authors write helps... Val McDermid, Robert Galbraith (yeah I know... I like the Strike books), Stieg Larsson. Their writing can be a little rough around the edges so gives me hope too

5. What do you think is the biggest problem you need help with in your writing?

Motivation to finish... Need to be in the right frame of mind to sit down for a few hours to write, rewrite and edit.

6. What are your writing goals for the next 12 months?

Finishing at least one of my long stories!!

It seems like we’re in similar states of life/being, Tayto. Glad to make your acquaintance!

1. How long have you been writing?

For about 11 years when it comes to feedist stories, but a little longer for fiction in general. There was always this impulse I had to put my WG fantasies onto paper, but for a while I was too shy and would hide it under a blanket of "It's hurt-comfort! He's lost too much weight and she's nursing him back to health!" Then when I was 20 I discovered Alittlepudge-neverhurtnobody on Tumblr and got inspired to just go for it.

2. What genre would you say you write?

I think I'm a satirist. I've done a few different genres (slice of life, superhero, heist, right now I'm working on a courtroom procedural), but I think all my work kind of has this habit of calling out both systemic and internalized fatphobia and kind of casting it in this ridiculous light?

3. Have you taken classes or received instruction for creative writing? What did you enjoy, and what did you dislike?

I took several classes at the university level on creative writing. I had some great professors, but it annoyed me whenever some of the men in my classes/workshops would mistakenly read a misandrist intent into my stories when really I was just going for femdomme vibes.

5. What do you think is the biggest problem you need help with in your writing?

Have you read me? I'm pretentious as heck. I need to learn that sometimes the curtains were just blue.
