Sonic has had a rocky history over the years, and I love just sharing the history of Sonic Team's ups and downs. In the mid-90's SEGA released their 32-bit console the SEGA Saturn, and Sonic Team was really struggling to develop a 3D Sonic game fit for the console... one project was rebranded into something completely different, the next scrapped, and by the end of the console's lifetime (of a measly ~3 years) all the fans of the series got was a mediocre racing game, a port of a genesis title, and a collection of the classic Genesis/Mega Drive titles with a sloppy small 3D over-world to run around in. Tough! At least the next console, the SEGA Dreamcast, launched with a proper 3D title, Sonic Adventure, an imperfect but fun game I still play from time to time...

Love Sonic Adventure, was the first dreamcast game I ever played. Still listen to the soundtrack from time to time, and play the re release on Xbox 360. Sonic has had a rocky history, I haven't played the newest games, but I always considered sonic 2 and the original game to have a special place in my heart, along with Sonic Adventure.

The best way I can describe Sonic, is its the rich and kinda technical and wacky world that games like mario should have, in my opinion.

If you go to gamestop or a pawn shop, I highly recommend looking around for one of the Sonic collections to a beginner.

I used to be a diehard sonic fan. In the old Sonic Underground he’s basically a lost prince who was separated from his 2 siblings at birth but idk if that’s still canon anymore or if anyone cares😔

Omg I loveddddd Sonic Underground! I wish that incarnation had been explored more, Manic was my absolute favourite.

It's a good series. Finished all of Sonic Superstars's character playthroughs in the past month as well, including the true final boss. I thought the game wasn't anywhere as bad as some people thought it was, though some of it was a bit rough in the second half of the game as they said. I don't mind taking damage as much as some people though which helps (that and cheesing emerald powers in some places).

Superstars isn't an awful game by any means, but I can't say I wasn't disappointed. Sonic Mania was just so good in comparison, and gosh the boss fights were really bad. That being said I liked a lot of the zones, and Tee Lopez' music tracks are fire!! That goes for almost every sonic game tho, the series has always consistently delivered on the soundtrack
