Seeing the cute slim guy/girl blow up

Joss123:
I’m almost sure I’m not the only one seeing former classmates starting to blow up, specially those cases of the “fit and cocky guy” that is becoming almost unrecognizable as he gets fatter.
Do you guys have any similar experiences?

Perfectly Rounded:
Yeah, many boys and girls I went to school over the years have gained notable amounts of weight, but maybe only once or twice so much that I had actually hard time recognising them.

Munchies:
I know some people who used to be cocky and in shape. Most of the time, they become cocky and out of shape.

Turns out, being fat does not make you a better person.

Yeah, definitely not! I guess it would require mental growth (instead of physical) for one to be a better person. That usually, but clearly not always, comes with the age...

Though I know some people that were cocky or otherwise unpleasant people when they were young, but who are nowadays very nice and kindhearted. But yeah, some people just don't change their ways even if their lives or bodies go through huge changes.

It's always been strange to me how prevalent the whole revenge fattening fantasy thing is. Specifically the whole "You were mean to me in high school. I hope you get fat."

We like fat around these parts. It's like saying "You were mean to me in high school. I hope you get smoking hot." But in these revenge fantasies, it's always a bad thing.

Are we so ashamed of our preferences that someone achieving them is shameful?

I haven't even thought about it from this point of view. Though I have never exactly hoped for someone that was unkind for me to gain weight. Still it makes me think about this...

I don't know, but maybe some people feel or think that it's annoying when someone they hate, manages to reach a goal weight or ideal body that they themselves perhaps couldn't.

Yep! I always enjoyed seeing the cute girls gain weight. I was a teen back in the 1990's when girls were very skinny...very different from today where girls actually do exercises to make their ass bigger.

A few girls from my highschool have blown up. None of them were the bitchy type. One was a thicc cheerleader she was very sweet and has since porked out since being happily married.

I'm sure people that went to school or worked with my wife must think the same thing when they see her now.

What on earth are you talking about? People of all sizes have always existed.

Also, can we please stop talking about teenagers in a sexualized way? That's sketchy.

Indeed, you’re correct in that women are carrying more weight these days. Mostly a good thing because there’s far greater body acceptance and not as much tolerance for intolerance about people’s weight. I grew up in the ‘80s and there was a palpable pressure on girls to be thin. It began to change slowly in the ‘90s, as kamikaze exercising wasn’t as popular anymore, plus it seemed people just started eating more.

I've often wondered about that, since this theme is so prevalent in the stories section...

If I had to guess, there might be 2 things going on:

1) That kind of revenge-by-getting-fat trope is common in a lot of media, it's been around forever, and I'm sure there are quite a few people in this community today who discovered they liked weight gain (or erotic weight gain media) because of tropes like that in "straight" media -- they just liked it for a different reason than how the author intended, maybe. Maybe not.

2) A lot of the stories on this site are taking well worn tropes like this one and putting the author's own take on it, and the author might not be thinking that hard about the origin of the trope they're mimicking, because it's something they always thought was hot. They might not have seen it the way it was intended to be seen, kinda subverting a problematic trope, but maybe inexpertly making that clear. Or not. It's amateur art, though, people trying things out.

I think this is true in terms of surface level, individual reasons. But the popularity also speaks to feedist culture. As much as feedism is countercultural, feedist still live in a fatphobic world. I do not think a lot of feedists have interrogated these influences as a whole.

I noticed revenge weight gain stories follow a general beat. Mean person is skinny and hot. As punishment for their sins, they get fat. Society rejects them, their life is ruined, and then they get fatter. Bonus points if the mean person joins the other loser fatties or the loser fatty they bullied become skinny and hot.

Notice how this frames fat as bad and skinny as good. There are, of course, variations on an individual level, but this is how the bulk of them go. From where I sit, this suggests feeling ashamed of their kinks and fetishes. They find fat sexy (the porn part) while also negociating some level of fatphobia (the revenge part).

But I suppose it makes sense. A lot of people sexualize what they find taboo.
