A friend has convinced me to go up to 400 lbs and I'm pretty new to purposely eating tons to gain weight and I was wondering if anyone on here had any tips for me or others in my position

Your profile says you are already about 300 lbs and short. Make sure your body can handle another 100 lbs by getting regular exercise. And take your time. Last thing you want is for the weight to be too much and have to lose it all.
Also
Do not eat mostly junkfood, and do not avoid the doctor. This is a risky activity, but you will be fine if you take the proper precautions.

Unironically some of the best advice I've heard, I may like slob and stuff but healthy gaining makes for much better fat distribution in general and is so much better for you even if health complications are possible.
It's super important - especially if you are into extreme gaining. Seen many a gain go cattywampus because of reckless methods.
