Itchy stretch marks

Anyone have any tips for dealing with the itch? I have a bunch of old, deep stretch marks on my belly between my rolls. Right where my waistband sits. Lately they’ve been itchy to the point where my usual anti-itch lotion isn’t doing much. I’m not looking to make them go away, I like the way they look and they’re deep enough that they’re not going anywhere. I just want them to stop itching.

Newly formed stretched skin is really sensitive so it’s really prone to irritation just try to wear more loose fitting clothes and you might wanna invest in a humidifier

Adding onto this, you want to get something that creates a protective barrier over the skin. So, after you put on your lotion, follow it up with something like petroleum jelly, coconut oil, or raw shea butter.

It’s hard to tell if I have stretch marks coming in or if it’s dry skin, it’s just so dry in tx in the winter and it’s hard to tell. Just dying to get stretch marks cause it means I’m doing a good job. Like proud badges of gaining🫠🥰

Put lotion on regardless of whether it's stretchmarks or dry skin.

Well, no. Once you get them, it means you grew faster than your skin could keep up. I've seen some wicked cases of fluid retention that led to stretchmarks.

Despite having been anorexically underweight, and having a peak weight gain of 30lbs in one month, I've never ever had a single stretchmark. Not sure why?

Having stretch marks isn't as easy has getting fat fast. You have to grow faster than your skin can keep up. Some people have pretty elastic skin and aren't prone to stretchmarks.

It is what is it.

My skin is quite elasctic so that's it then. It's also extremely smooth which is also a sign of elastic skin so I've heard it said by other people with such skin.

Well then, there you go. It's not a bad thing.

I can confirm that severe edema sometimes causes stretch marks. Years ago I had a terrible reaction to a medication that resulted in my lower legs and feet blowing up like balloons. That was painful. I’ve also seen stretch marks on teens who had huge growth spurts.

Thanks for the tip, by the way! Shea butter is great stuff.

Ouch, I am glad that got sorted. May you never experience that again.

And you're welcome!
