Kitsune:
[…] I just have a preference for websites that have a smaller userbase and traditional UI that isn't inspired by the current social media/Corporate Memphis style.
Just from my personal experience I have many stories to tell regarding bad memories on Fantasy Feeder. I won't deny I had bad memories on Dims too but most of them happened on here. Someday I write a DM about them to you and Arame.
Edit: I am not ashamed to admit FF's UI is bad.
Curious what you dislike about FF’s UI. Not all aspects are as i would design things, but i mostly like the way it works. I especially like that it works with my older WWW browser and (Mac) OS. Indeed, when Apple locked me out of any of my current equipment and forced me back onto a 2005(!) Mac with a 2010 macOS, FF still worked but many other sites didn’t.
Haven’t been on Dimensions since 2022 or maybe briefly in 2023, before the paywall, so don’t know how things are there now UI-wise. XenForo is popular and somewhat of a de-facto standard, but i found it very much of a hassle to post stories. (Had issues with stories here too, but different: insufficient formatting options.)
Personally i’ve had more human interaction problems on Dimensions than Fantasy Feeder, but also Excellent Experiences on both. Now that i’m in a life pattern where i only dip into the community once in awhile for a few hours or maybe a few days, being on a very limited budget it’s not worth it to me to pay for Dimensions. I remain
very grateful that so far FF is able to provide as much as it does to folks like me for free.
