Do you just appreciate the community?

Morbidly A Beast:
This sounds like a bunch of word salad to justify people being hurt by overt racism.

It "sounds like", that is the argument? Really?

And no, its not! I dont think racism is rational to begin with. I dont want racism to do anything, because it always makes things worse, i know that!

I dont do nazi apologetics, i just think people focus exessively on the person who happens to be on the top and completely ignore the conditions that allowed him to be there. Thats dangerous! Same applies with the situation today. Are you aware of what the so called "think tanks" have done to US politics and how dangerous they were all along, for example? Ive never seen people complain about the control they exert onto politicians! Would i be a Trump apologist for saying that Trump was not the facilitator of all this crazyness?

I also tend to respect other people's needs and when they need me to stop doing something, i stop it. But that has to be communicated first you know?

Jiggle Junkie:
I remain very grateful that so far FF is able to provide as much as it does to folks like me for free.

Now that you mention it, yes! I also am grateful that FF does all it does for free!

Yes, actually. You would be.

I'm all for acknowledging system issues, but you cannot ignore the impact of individuals. Focusing on one over the other is, as you like to say, illogical and stupid.

Take FF, for example. This place used to be rife with lots of bigots. Misogynists, racists, homophobes, transphobes, and more. Lotta fucked shit. It was very systematized. This is not to say FF condoned the behavior per se, but seeing that the site owner is an older white British man, there were a lot of blind spots.

You know what changed it? Individual members confronting other individual members. Some changed, some left, and some stopped posting gross things as much. And as people grew unified in standing up for the vulnerable, the system changed.

And this is why you specifically are getting the pushback you are getting. Focusing on systemic issues while overlooking individual actions exonerates the individuals (even if that's not what you meant to do) and strengthens the system. In your efforts to play "enlightened scholar," you are propping up a system that FF as a whole is trying to leave behind.

You're welcome, but I am not interested in engaging with you further. So, while I can't tell you not to respond, understand I will not engage with you further.

It's also unlikely that Morbidly will respond to you as he is taking a hiatus for his health.
