So i guess tumblr has banned feedism now?

Lbd4:
And reporting people who encourage overeating? Where’s the line? I still think this is more about the fat people ick factor than any liability. Couch it however you want.

I already explained where the line is. The content is SOLELY for mature adults and it exists on a site that is NOT exclusive to adult viewership. That's the line.

It's not about your feelings. And fat people =/= feedism. Continuing to center ONLY your experience in it devalues fat people as a whole. Because you're then saying that fat people MUST be feedists, and that's not the case.

I'm not saying this as a theory. I'm saying this as someone who's had to moderate content before. It's not about you, it's about liability.

Not all fat people are feedists. Obviously most of them are not. But fatphobia is irrational and draws no distinction. Look at the comments of any picture or video anywhere of any fat person doing literally anything, and you'll find every fatphobic comment imagineable. If those people realize they can now report some of that content, they will do so.

It won't matter to them that there's a distinction between regular fat people and active feedists. Most of them believe obesity is a personality flaw by default. Make no mistake, there will be people who abuse that feature by reporting fat people they don't like in bad faith. If moderation is done with bots, as is increasingly the case, many won't understand context clues enough to tell the difference.

And I can imagine what it would be like for a plus-sized content creator posting body positivity content to try helping with their self-image issues having some of that content pulled down because it promotes obesity. That would be immensely discouraging.

That could definitely be the case. I often see the "I'm just concerned for their health" excuse from fataphobic users on YouTube and Reddit. I can imagine those tomfools be the ones that report anything related to plus size people.

The TikTok community is notorious for dogpiling fat content creators. Even if you drew fat characters apparently.

Put your 4D goggles on (tehee) It’s banned because, the hidden elites want to control your bodily autonomy.

How can you be sold a product if you go against the status quo?

Weight gain is only acceptable if it is rooted in trauma or if you can be marketed to.

Tumblr pushes hateful rhetoric while banning something that actually encourages self love.

This isn’t simply about banning because it’s explicit, but because it no longer follows the narrative we’re expected to follow.

It’s literally under self harm which is not true. It’s self love.

The site is full of so much NSFW content anyways.

Tumblr is just a sinking ship of a bygone era anyways!

So i guess tumblr has banned feedism now?

Synopsis:

Tumblr is currently owned by Automattic Inc., the same company behind WordPress.com. They bought Tumblr from Verizon in 2019 for less than $3 million — which is wild considering Yahoo originally bought it for $1.1 billion in 2013. (Talk about a glow-down.)

But who owns Automattic?

It was founded by Matt Mullenweg, a tech bro who claims to be pro-free speech, open internet, and user empowerment. But here’s the thing:
• Automattic takes in hundreds of millions in VC funding from groups like Tiger Global, Insight Partners, and Salesforce Ventures.
• These firms have strong links to big finance, Wall Street, and — yes — the elite class of tech overlords who shape what the internet gets to be.

So while Matt might still technically be CEO and founder, he’s playing nice with capital sharks who expect ROI — and that always means advertiser-friendly content. No controversy. No “weird kinks.” No freedom unless it sells clean.

Tumblr really ought to be considered an adult site. Most social media sites should be considered adult only. Perhaps child friendly sites should carry an age rating tag then parents can restrict the children's Internet to those if they wish.

That way we don't have to make the whole Internet the Fisher Price toy version of what we want.

We recognise that the streets are not safe for un-supervised toddlers so we should recognise the Internet is the adult world too.

Sadly, there's barely any safe online spaces for kids these days. I am glad to be a Zillenial and grow up with pet browser games and other kid-centric websites. I don't mean to brag it's just that the 2000's were different from the 2010's and onward. Mobile devices and streaming really shaped society.

Lately, Time Warner just killed off it's American version of the Cartoon Network website. Another example is Chuck E Cheese which I heard the newer building models are digital-centric to cater the Gen-Alpha crowd.
