Is it possible to reverse pre diabetes just by improving my diet?

I recently did some blood work in a lab to test for pre diabetes and unfortunately i just barely tested positive for pre diabetes.I already do a lot of strength training as well as make sure eat some balanced meals through the week but I still eat a good amount of fast food/junk food as well as protein powder with high amounts of sugar.

So my question is if its possible to maintain or even keep gaining weight as well as reverse my diabetes just by eating a lot of complex carbs, cutting put as much sugar as possible and making sure I just eat as much healthy foods as possible?

P.S Also is there a way to ask this to doctor without having him/her questioning me why I dont want to lose weight?

Eating a more balanced diet - especially one with lots of lean protein and fiber, paired with cardio and weight training, can be enough to reverse pre-diabetes over time.

You will need to make lifestyle changes. You may lose weight. But weight loss does not need to be your goal.

I was prediabetic and this year's test has improved a lot. I haven't lost weight, in fact I may have gain a little. Like others have said, a balanced diet helps, they like to say 80% food and 20% exercises. You can still get fully stuffed by being more creative in the kitchen. Sadly, cutting out carbonated drinks helps a lot. I do take inositol with matcha daily and they have helped me though there's noway to proof it.

My family's diabetic. You can definitely slow progression and probably feel a lot better (the general rule of thumb is pair any carbs or sugars with protein and they usually process better), but if a lot of family members have it, there is a high chance it will develop anyway. I've personally seen fit and veggie-loving family members get it because that's genetics. Still, it's a good thing to do- just don't feel like you failed if you still get it. Taking meds or insulin is annoying, but it's better to have it managed than unknown, and you can still have a pretty normal life and still eat good food most of the time, you just have to be more aware. The weight gain is partially random, honestly, again based on genetics and the rest of your lifestyle. You might lose weight, you might continue to gain it anyway.
