Improving capacity

BigBallBellyGirl:
I hear from many people the weight from rapid gains doesn't stick. The flip side of that is when you stretch your stomach permanently and weight gain becomes very difficult to control. That happened to me.

I've always been fat, and I've never had trouble putting away a big meal. At one point, on medical advise, I got down to 190 ,which, while still obese, is my lowest adult weight. Not liking it one bit, I started gaining on purpose, and that ultimately led to an obsession with rapid gains and very extreme stuffings. I funneled, I took appetamin, I chugged, and my stuffings became bigger and bigger. I was blowing up at an unbelievable rate, including one gaining spurr of 80 pounds in two months and a gain of 55 pounds between Christmas and New Years. I was eating 25,000 or more calories everyday, and eventually that no longer filled me up. It I had a 10,000 calorie day, I felt like I hadn't eaten at all. I reached what I thought was my absolute weight cap of 500 in December 2023. The thing is, my stomach didn't get that message. As it turns out, I did permanent damage that would require surgery to reverse, and I'm currently too big, at 650, for that surgery. So I struggle... Every day... to keep my calories at maintenance and drink tons of water, but I still feel like I'm starving. And then I have weak moments. A couple of weeks ago, I had a few triggering experiences, and I went to food for comfort. I gained 12 pounds, and despite shoveling down tens of thousands of calories (and feeling nauseated by grease once), I never once felt truly full. I said all this to say, it's possible to stretch your stomach irreversibly and destroy your fullness signals, which creates a risk of other complications.

Thank you for the insight! This is really helpful to understand in managing a person’s intake and the damage if it’s not managed right. Are you ever able to feel full ever? Any recommendations I can get my wife’s to calorie deficient filling foods to help her when she doesn’t need to drop a few pounds? Thank you so much!

Hi there! I'm not trying to gain currently (though I find I still am because of some mobility issues and some dietary slips), so I haven't felt full in a very long time. Most recently, I had an emotional response to a negative experience in a doctor's office, and I ate about 9,000 calories in burgers, fries, chicken and fish sandwiches, and nuggets from McDonalds. Because I've been making a major effort to eat clean, I felt nauseated by the grease, but my belly wasn't actually full. I'm basically hungry all the time, even though I eat three meals with lean proteins and fiber every day, plus three snacks and lots of water.

As for the second part of your question, can you clarify if you're asking about ways to feel full without investing a lot of calories? (Forgive me, it's early where I am, and my brain doesn't want to engage!)

Oh goodness, yes, I didn’t proofread well! I am curious what you eat to keep full (or as close to it as you can) that’s not high in calories. I’d assume vegetables or other high fiber foods. Sometimes my wife needs a break and wants to see her numbers drop as a way to feel in control. I don’t care for her to be sad and hungry, though a calorie deficit will always do that a little. Thank you for your thoughts

When I first started as a teen around half a gallon was the best I could do and maybe around 5lbs of food. Now my capacity is around 2.8 gallons or so and have eaten 19lbs in a sitting.

Ah, yes! So vegetables are a staple, but I like to vary them up and do bright colorful salads, splurge on a little tasty dressing, and eat fruit that is high in water content to feel fuller. I find my balance though. I substitute whole wheat pita bread for thick white bread, and I enjoy sandwiches often. I do snack, but I make choices like salsa instead of queso or ranch dip. My ice cream is sugar-free, and I buy sugar-free pudding cups too. And about once a week, I have a normal sized, normal portioned meal, of whatever indulgent thing I want.

At the end of the day, I love being fat, and these aren't diet tips. Having a happy, lengthy fat life involves strategy though. That strategy can mean intermittent periods of maintenance or weight loss, with the bigger goal in mind of continuing to enjoy yourself!
