Fat experiences

Fat family?

Talking about your experiences growing up in a fat family or sharing personal stories is fine, and it’s important that people can discuss their lived experiences openly. That said, we do need to stay mindful with topics like this.

Because the site is adult in nature, there should never be any sexualisation of minors or detailed discussion involving children. If a conversation ever crosses that line or you feel someone is taking things out of context, please report it to us.

In this thread, everyone mentioned is of age. While some may find family topics unusual here, let’s remain respectful. The user hasn’t shared anything inappropriate they have simply expressed happiness that their adult daughters are doing well and have supportive partners.

If more personal details or photos were shared, we’d need to revisit consent and site suitability, but as it stands, this discussion is within acceptable boundaries.

Fat family?

Munchies:
I don't understand why people fetishize their family - especially their kids. Sure, everyone involved is of age, but that's still your flesh and blood. Feels yucky.

What a bizarre comment - who's fetishising?

Morbidly A Beast:
I don’t believe in the fat gene considering I weigh more than my immediate family combined, I have an uncle who’s heavier but he’s not blood related and I have a good 100 pounds on him.

I think food habits are probably past down from parent to child but I have a hard time believing In genetic basis for being fat

I totally agree.

This makes perfect sense to me.

Fat family?

Actually genetics account for about 50% of someone’s weight. It’s not one “single gene” but rather genes influencing your metabolism, fat storage, appetite etc. That’s what the science says. My own experience confirms that. I have fat relatives who have worked very hard not to be fat and never managed to be less than chubby.

Yes there definitely is a genetic component to weight. Even my doctor, who is trying to get me to lose weight, said that I’ll never be skinny

I am curious what if one of your parents is skinny and the other is overweight? I used to be skinny but eventually became fat. I am considering on losing weight.

Edit: Actually, I think my dad wasn't originally overweight. Both of his parents were skinny. But eventually he became chubby.

I don’t believe there is a fat gene like the others are suggesting here but genetics are largely only half the story. It’s probably more explained with relationships with food. Than it is genetic. It’s a learned behavior.
