Umbilical hernia from gaining?

No hernia here, but it’s quite common for a belly button to change shape or depth due to weight gain. Mine is still an innie but it’s shallower than it used to be.

Umbilical hernia from gaining?

To be fair, skinny folks can get umbilical hernias too! It's mostly caused by a little tear in the abs muscles, then parts leak out a little 😬😬

I didn't feel my hernia happen (if that is what it is, but I'm pretty sure because it used to not be there). I do remember what it felt like to tear my ab muscles though....

Working out can exacerbate it, especially strain on the abs, like crunches.

Not that I can do a sit up these days.... 😬

Umbilical hernia from gaining?

Wifey and I have dealt with the more common hernias recently. I had one down around my left pelvic area repaired just two years ago. Got it from coughing incessantly after I caught my child’s cold. She’s had two in her belly just in a year’s time. Not even all the added fat in her belly the past several years could keep the deeply buried muscle from giving way.

Umbilical hernia from gaining?

Yes! I used to have a regular innie, not particularly deep but certainly an indent. Then I gained a LOT of weight... FAST... and much of it was hard visceral fat. Even at my highest weight of 660 and my current weight of about 558, which I'm maintaining, I have a very big protruding belly that's super firm for someone my size, particularly a woman. In one year, when I gained more than 200 pounds and added a discproprtionate 25 inches to my waistline, my belly button completely flattened out. Then a small bump started to protrude inside a ring that's about an inch and a half in diameter. When I was still doing major stuffings, I'd feel a little pinch in that area when I got extra swollen. I'm not sure I have words to describe the sensation, but I did enjoy it as a sign I was totally engorged.
