Tips on responses to neg comments

For most of my life I’ve been fairly fit. As a runner, most people expect me always to be “fit”. Last time I actively gained, it was covid and I didn’t see many people. As I regain, I know the neg comments will come from family friends and coworkers… I kinda expect it.

I think I know how I will respond as Im more prepared this time. But I’m curious what your top responses were for unwanted comments on weight gain?

Tips on responses to neg comments

To family: "In all honesty, [name], it's none of your business what my body looks like or what I eat. Thank you for your "concern", but I'm perfectly happy as I am, my body is wonderful and I love it as it is."

To doctors: "I have considered weight loss and I have tried it before. I am not interested in discussing weight loss drugs or the like, I am very happy with where I am, and unless there is an urgent pressing health issue, I will continue embracing my body as it is, because it's the only body I got."

Thank you for the response. I’m definitely going to use a similar variation for my doctor in the future. I like the “I’m happy with where I am and unless there is an urgent pressing health issue….”
