It all started when I was a child. I always had a desire to be fat. Ever since my mother took me and my older sister to the movies to watch Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The character; Violet Beauregard was my favorite character. She chewed on a certain piece of gum; that wasn’t ready for consumption. Anyway, she turned into a blueberry. When she tried to walk, she started to waddle. The Oompa Loompas had to roll her into the juicing room to squeeze the juice out of her.
I would stuff pillows underneath my shirt to make myself look fat. I had several aunts on my father’s side of the family who were fat. My cousin; who is two years older than me was fat as well.
After school, I would always have a snack. By the time school was ending for the Summer, my appetite started to increase. I was around 70-lbs. at the time. During the summer; while my older slender sister and friends would be outside playing, I would be in the house eating. I doubled the amount of food and snacks.
By August of 1975, I gained 25-lbs. My thighs were fat and rubbing together. My arms were fat, my face was filling out (getting a double chin). Also, my belly was getting round and fat. I was eight years old and weighing 95-lbs. I started patting my newfound belly with excitement.
My sister would say you’re becoming a fatty. My family were on the regular size, while I became fat. By the time school started in the fall, I entered third grade in the “onederlands”; meaning, I entered past the 100-lb. mark.
My mother had to take me to a pediatrician to discuss my weight. The pediatrician was kind of alarmed with me being eight years old and weighing 105-lbs. With some diet and exercise, she would lose weight, the pediatrician would say. Otherwise, she might be an overweight adult. The pediatrician also weighed my sister; who is slender.
My mother had to deal with a slender daughter and an obese daughter. Ever since I gotten fat as a child, my appetite remained the same. The following year, I started going to fat camp; in order to get my weight under control. My sister had teased me with “Have fun at fat camp fatty”. That moment, I knocked her down with my belly. I went to fat camp to lose a few pounds. When camp was over, I would gain some of the weight back.
My sister was participating in cheerleading, I was still fat. Trying to lose weight was a challenge. At twelve years old, we would watch a show called Real People. One segment on the show, they had a Belly Bucking competition. Belly Bucking is a crazy sport; where two large men in a ring, using their bellies to knock the opponent out of the ring. I was so mesmerized by that episode, I thought it was fascinating and fun to do that.
My male cousin; who was the same age as I am, was interested in competing in Belly Bucking. We both were eating buddies and we’re both were fat. We created a ring, just like the sport. Our t-shirts were kind of small, but our bellies were hanging over our waistbands. I started belly bucking my cousin to try to knock him off the ring. Like I used my belly to knock my sister down when she would call me fatty. I competed in the Junior Belly Bucking competition and I won a few competitions.
I had lost some weight in the past; but I wasn’t happy with the weight loss. I would always see a fat person in the mirror. I had regained the weight and then some. I’m more happier now being fat. When I look at my profile pictures, you see a round and happy person.
