400 lbs: what is it like?

Ive been debating gaining more weight, but I'm not sure. For those in the 350-400 club, what is it like? How does it feel? Would love to learn your experiences, whether it be pleasurable or a daily struggle

400 lbs: what is it like?

To me, it's a question of height (which you didn't give) and how strong your legs already are. I've always been large and tall, so 400 wasn't really a problem, beyond clothes. I have a very large back, so shirts were especially hard, but I got to about a 58" waist at my heaviest, which was probably around 430.

Im not sure why, but I never considered height being a factor. Im 6'2" myself and near 300lbs right now. And clothes were something I did consider and how it may be hard to shop for clothes once someone gets past 300lbs. I can definitely appreciate your perspective tho and would love to learn more! smiley

400 lbs: what is it like?

I mean, for me, at my biggest, 6XL was my go-to for shirts. 5X would fit, if it would stretch a bit. But finding clothes in any given store was basically impossible. I had walked a lot in the time leading up to my heaviest point, so that was never an issue. But past 350, you need to consider what chairs you can use. Most folding chairs simply won't take what you've got anymore. Couches that sit low and deep are basically traps you'll have to roll out of. I even broke a toilet seat.

I could definitely see how it could be hard. Even for me at 306, my highest, I broke two fragile beds (Old but still) and ripped some clothes. Did your appetite increase much? Also, are you cool if I DM?

Honestly, personally for me I didn't find too much of a difference between 300 and 350. Outside of being a little more out of shape and needing bigger clothes there isn't a whole lot. Although, as the other person said above, you do have to be a little more careful of where and what you sit on. I'm currently 5'11, 351lbs (last I checked), with a 59-60inch waist.

I did not think there would be a huge difference in 50lbs, but 350 still does seem intriguing. Was there anything you did notice? Like an appetite increase or bumping into things a lot?

appetite is a little disconnected from your weight, i think. it has more to do with stomach capacity.

a couple years ago i had to adjust my eating/drinking habits, and i ended up losing 50+ lbs along the way. over that time i guess my stomach must have shrunk because i was eating much less and feeling full. recently, now my health is good again, my partner has been pushing my limits again... but my capacity is still way less than it was at my max, but i am still over 400 lbs.

obviously there is a relationship. if your capacity is really big, you'll maintain a certain weight more easily. but when i started to eat less, eventually my weight loss kind of stopped, or at least slowed way down, so the two became a little disconnected.
