Two tips from me
1. Having fun is important for gaining. Lard for example is great for gains, terrible eaten on its own. So even if it costs a bit more, you will stick with it more and be more excited to eat if its tasty
2. Budgeting helps a lot: calculate the calories to costs of some common foods you like or would be open to. Plan out how much you want to spend on food each week, and go with it. Knowing your budget will prevent you from overspending and cycling between stuffed and hungry (it gets frustrating)
