+1 to the general idea of neurodivergence and (really most fetishes, but especially this one) being linked. How does any special interest / fixation develop really, it's the same question but with more wires being crossed. Growing up in mostly the 2000s, there was a lot of an explicit taboo to being fat. Everyone making direct comments was normal. Commercials talking about weight problems while someone is on the scale cupping their big belly in both hands. Add in things like fat family members or teachers or whatever, and some of the classic media representations, the damn Passion Patties and such. It's like an autistic minefield to not end up with something by puberty, lol.
