I've written several stories here and elsewhere.
Trying to understand the earnings here - did I understand correctly, I'm only paid if a person upgrades through one of my stories?

Everyone else already on premium who reads my story, I don't earn anything?

Yes you are correct in that anyone with a existing subscription for all premium content will be able to view your premium story content.

How you earn:
You earn commission whenever a member upgrades after engaging with your content. Whether they subscribe just to your stories only (your dedicated author tier) or go for the full site upgrade.

The author only tier is great as it offers a lower price for readers who love your writing specifically and only want to access your content and you set the price for this.

Full site upgrade tiers pay you in the same way but you get more commission as these upgrades are often more expensive than the author only subscriptions even though that member can then read anyone's content. So you're paid for being the author who "closed the deal."


Recurring income:

Once a reader upgrades through your story, you continue earning from their subscription for as long as they are subscribed. One great story can pay you for months or years as many of our authors have already experienced. It's not a one off payment for an individual story, although we are thinking of opening up the FF Store for authors to upload individual stories but this is something we are currently mulling over as it would require quite a bit of work.

Commission / Engagement
There is no cap on commission, so you can earn as much as you like and we pay out every month regardless of what you earned. Authors with larger back catalogues tend to compound their earnings because every new reader has more of your work to discover.

Existing premium members reading your stories still benefit you indirectly through engagement, likes, and visibility pushing your work higher in recommendations, which drives more new reader conversions.

When becoming an earner, we still recommend posting free content. Having available free story content tends to convert far better than putting everything behind the paywall. Readers who fall in love with your writing and style are the ones most likely to upgrade specifically for you.

The value we offer to members by giving them access to a 'content library' with hundreds or premium stories
is the real incentive for upgrades. It offers more value than just upgrading for a single author or story. Most of our upgrades are for the Fantasy package, so this means all our authors benefit.
