Gaining

Friends just joke about it.

In my family my siblings don't mind/care, but my parents do. I've sat through some pretty nasty comments and just try to steer the subject away from it. I'm close with them, but I stopped caring about what my parents think of my personal life a long time ago.

My mother was most concerned about my weight gain when I was eight years old.

After school, I would eat a snack often. But when summer came, I started doubling the amount of food. While my sister and friends were out playing, I would be in the house eating. I went from 70lbs. to 105-lbs. by the time school started in September.

I came into the third grade and already fat, my mother had to buy clothes ever so often because I kept growing out of them. By the time the year was over, I gained 25-lbs. My mother took me to the pediatrician about my weight. Doctor told my mother to put me on a diet in order for me to lose weight.

I would lag behind when I would run in gym. I couldn’t keep up with the neighborhood kids when playing. Back to the diet part. I was restricted to eating fruits and vegetables in order to lose weight. My mother bought a tape measure and a scale for my weigh ins. I would eat behind her with the cookies and chips.

My mother signed me up to go to fat camp in order for me to lose weight. I would lose several pounds from fat camp; but not as much weight. I enjoyed going to fat camp because I wasn’t alone in battling obesity. My mother had to deal with the fact that I’m going to be fat.

Back when I first joined FF, I was living with my parents. I started gaining weight and they could definitely tell. I started to outgrow my clothes, my grandma offered to give me a gym membership for Christmas but I declined. My parents didn't really say much only my grandmother did. I haven't talked to her in 16 years, I can't imagine what she would say if she seen me now. Not only am I over 100 lbs. bigger than I was in 2010, I'm also trans and have been transitioning for almost six years now.

My family and friends don’t seem to care, since many of them are also fat themselves 😁 I wear slightly oversized work shirts that don’t show how big my ball belly is, ha. My wife’s pretty much the same. She’s been over 300 pounds for a long time now, so it’s all good. She was tiny in her teens, though. Once said if she visited her old hometown no one would recognize her because she’s gained so much since then 👍
