My girlfriend is 5'3 and around 55 kg, and is looking to gain more weight while keeping up her exercise. Are there any tips around daily exercises that don't burn too many calories but are still good for strength and overall well being?

If you want to minimize exercise to meet goals for this lifestyle yet still remain active she should focus on some upper body training with dumbbells. Lower body training will occur naturally as she gains weight.

Three days per week (with at least one day off between them) do three sets of 6-8 reps of bicep curls, then three sets of 6-8 reps of overhead press.

This will provide a decent amount of upper body strength through a small amount of work.

This is the easiest question I have ever answered. All she has to do is eat more and workout the same. She will keep her fitness and gain weight all at the same time.
