Relatively new gainer - what to look forwards to?

I'm a relatively new gainer, although I've wanted to get fat for as long as I can remember. I've gone a fair bit past the medical definition of obesity at this point, but I'm nowhere near as big as I wish to be.

While I'm working on growing, I'd love to hear some descriptions of what I can look forwards to in terms of physical sensations and even the "struggles" (which honestly I look forwards to as well) that come with being big from some of you all with experience.

I'm about 25 lbs heavier than you so the changes only look a little different on the surface but they feel more monumental. Like I've honestly only felt truly fat in the last 10 lbs or so. Your body will just feel squishier all around. My lower belly finally has a bit of a jiggle for the first time. It also feels really satisfying after a big meal looking in a mirror and seeing how distended your belly has gotten.
As for some downsides, y'all really weren't kidding how exhausting things are getting. I used to be fairly fit before I started gaining so I always assumed "sure being fat makes you heavier, but I'm strong so I can just push through that". Nope it's really hard. Standing for long periods of time really hurts and I'm basically on my feet all day at work so when I get home I just almost immediately go lay down and stuff my face. If you can try to do some light resistance exercises that could definitely be beneficial for you in the long run. Like you don't have to do anything crazy that will cause to lose weight, but do some daily stretches and maybe some squats and it'll help promote joint health and make it easier for you to get around especially if you have a high goal weight. It's easier to start healthy habits now when you're smaller than when you're much bigger
Sorry for yapping so long, I love talking about my gain and all the changes to my body. I wish you luck on yours and I hope you reach your goal weight speedily smiley

Thank you for the response! Yeah, I'm not to the point where I feel actually fat just yet myself, even if medically, doctors would definitely say I am. But I'm somewhere between chubby and fat rn I'd say. From what you're describing though, sounds like I'm not too far away from stating to actually /feel/ fat, which is great!

As for the downsides, yeah, I've already noticed that myself. Probably because I was only moderately fit before, so the sudden increase in weight when I finally decided to just go for it with gaining, my body couldn't keep up with the sudden weight added. I've gotten a lot of back pain from it, so doing some squats and stretches and gentle exercising daily sounds like a good idea to start doing again! (I've been lazy with it while trying to gain weight admittedly haha)

It's definitely difficult getting into exercising after gaining weight. I used to be super muscular and would lift weights daily but now when I do that I'm basically ruined for the rest of the day. The aim is to push yourself enough to see results without causing injury. If you have dumbbells try doing some goblet squats and maybe some rows to help with your back strength. If not just try doing squats, wall sits, and planks to help build your core and leg strength. Once you start developing more of a belly it becomes more of a workout to bend around and reach things so core strength is beneficial even though you're not trying to get abs. Also any exercise whether it's cardio or not still helps build your cardiovascular system which is beneficial in the long run if you're aiming for a super high weight. The last thing you need is a health scars pausing or ending your gaining journey

I can imagine! I used to go on hour long walks every other day, anywhere between 2-6 hours. Now I'm getting bad back pain just walking through the grocery store, so I can only imagine how much harder it is to get back into actual exercising 😅. I do have dumbbells, so I will definitely try out those goblet squats and rows, or work my way up to them if it's too hard right away. I'd like to try to gain in a healthy as a way as I can, and my goal isn't a super high weight compared to some others on here (my goal is around 330 lbs give or take) but I definitely need to be mindful about exercise and what types of calories I consume if I'm going to reach that weight without ruining my back completely and my cholesterol.

I'm currently about 260 lbs at a height of 5'9" (176 cm), so if your weight is still accurate I'm about 40 lbs heavier than you.

one thing that surprised me the most about my gain was how quickly I've run into accessibility issues due to my weight. I still consider myself relatively small compared to other feedists, but I already can't find clothes in store anywhere near me and a lot of furniture here is rated for 220 lbs max. so even though I don't feel super big, society is definitely letting me know that I'm getting " too fat".

I'm still fairly active, though I don't work out in the traditional sense, but I do walk about 6 km every day and I can pretty easily do 10-12 km if I want to. what has definitely been a game changer since getting fatter, is splurging on good shoes. my daily shoes are now trail runners and they actually help so much with not getting too much back/ joint pain when I have to stand or walk a lot.

as for the more directly physical experiences- be prepared for your fat "getting in the way" of various things. one thing I never anticipated was that my belly makes it hard for me to reach my sink to do the dishes. I either have to stand at a really awkward angle or put my belly on top of my counter in order for me to reach more comfortably. bending over is also getting increasingly hard, so I often find myself opting to squat down if I have to pick something up from the ground. I'm sure there are more ways in which my belly impacts my mobility/ functionality that I can't think of right now, I just know that every so often I can feel myself doing something differently than how I used to do something and it's always a great reminder of how big I've been getting.

have fun on your gaining journey! smiley

Thanks for your reply! My weight on my profile is about accurate, maybe a few lbs more since I updated it, but I haven't checked yet.

I will definitely "steal" your suggestion of looking to get some good trail runner shoes! I usually haven't really thought about what kind of shoes I wear, but I probably should since I deal with some back pain. It's also nice to know that you can still be fairly active with walking without necessarily working out in a more typical sense. I imagine that too helps when it comes to back pain and preventing it from getting too bad.

I have yet to experience my fat getting in the way of things like that, the only thing I can no longer do is touch my fingertips on both hands together at my back when I reach with one over the shoulder and one from below, which I used to be able to, so I can no longer scratch my whole back myself without a scratching stick. But I'm looking forwards to reaching a point where a few more things like reaching the sink (didn't actually think about this one) and bending down will also become a bit of a challenge, and to find out if I want to gain more once I've reached my goal or not (330lbs).

Thank you again for your reply! I hope you have fun on your gaining journey as well! smiley
