Idk how it developed for me, but i know it grew alongside with my stuffing fetish. Probably cuz it tells how well you ate or how full you are... or the sound of pure satisfaction. Im pretty burpy and they sound more desperate if i am very overstuffed with huge meals so that adds more on the love for belches during and after stuffings and bloats.

I think the appeal for me is just the idea of letting go completely and not caring
