Gaining

Would you grow on the moon?

You get randomly picked to go join a new colony on the moon. Mass is the same on the moon as on earth, in other words if you are on wheels (a skateboard, bike, wheelchair, etc.), it takes as much effort to get moving and as much effort to stop. But with the lower gravity you’d only weigh—as in how much load you put on your feet—1/6 of what you do on earth. So if you weight 300 pounds on earth, you’d only weigh 50 pounds on the moon. You’d still have any geometrical issues from size, like thighs rubbing, belly getting in the way, etc. In other words, the only real difference is how heavy you feel, so your feet and knees would not have the same load, getting up from sitting would be easier, etc.

With a lot less load on you, would you choose to get fatter than you would on earth?

Would you grow on the moon?

Lol. Interesting little factoid.

Space travel costs $100,0000 worth per pound of weight, just to get into orbit. People on this site better start saving up smiley

Of course that price will go down in the future...especially after the construction of a Space Elevator...yes that is possible...trust me, I'm a sci-fi writer smiley

Also on a side note, zero-g causes the body to loose nutrients. Making stuffing and feeding in space very difficult smiley

Yep, zero G gives all sorts of problems, and even low gravity probably creates problems....but just maybe the issues with living in low g would be reduced if you were still carrying a substantial weight? Maybe the only healthy way to live on the Moon would be as a fatty?smiley (I like to imagine so, anyway)

You could also, of course, spin a large ring out in space to use centrifugal force to simulate gravity. If you actually had a number of concentric rings, the inner ones would have lower gravity, so perhaps as you kept getting fatter you could keep moving to lower gravity? (I have a bunch of un-written stories based on that one)

And personally, assuming there was not strong social rejection of it, I think that on the moon I'd like to about double my mass...call it getting to 200kg, which would weigh 440 pounds on earth, but under 75 pounds on the moon smiley I think that for me, bigger than that and I'd get frustrated with the restrictions that the padding from the fat would cause....but who knows?

ps. and yes, I was rather assuming a space elevator or other method of vastly reducing the cost of moving things to space, I don't think any sort of colony would be viable without one.

Yeah centrifugal stations will solve most of the problems...also by that point in the future we'll also have nanotechnology to help keep us healthy from the inside out.

Also meaning you could gain as much weight as you want and not have to worry about any adverse health effects smiley

Would you grow on the moon?

I would do it. If I can get fat enough to be a ball I would totally, like willy wonka or charlie n chocolate factory, like violet was.

Would you grow on the moon?

I would gain on the moon in a heart-beat, I mean why not cause I'm currently gaining on Earth... lol

I think I would go beyond even my dream weight of 850lbs if I were on the moon.

Would you grow on the moon?

Yeah, if being on the moon means it would be easier to be bigger, of course i'd get fatter lol.

I like the idea of being forced to though, like you can only go to the moon if you gain to your earth weight otherwise the experience will be too disorienting for you.

I know its BS, but it would be a great idea for a story, all these people headed for the moon going through weeks and maybe months of weight gain training just to be allowed to go there. smiley

He-hehe, sign me up please lol. If I gained to my earth weight on the moon I'd weigh around 3000lbs lol
