I would guess almost everyone would 'want to hear the truth' but I think that the point to take into account would be what causes you or your partner to lie in a relationship moreover the generic ideal fantasy of the kind notion that we should all just be honest. Obviously that's easier said than done, especially in some instances.
I often wonder if people are programmed a certain way- to lie, to gossip etc. There are many negative aspects to 'human nature' and the reasons behind some of these traits might not be easily identifiable- or differing from person to person.
Although I'm not condoning lying to a partner, I do believe that there are many deciding factors that go into it. Lying is often a shield used as protection- now whether that be for the liar or the person being lied to, I would imagine it would differ from case to case. I think that lying stems from fear and is manifested into falsehood as a mechanism to avoid being faced head on with that fear- aside from sheer sociopaths of course.
