I agree preference can definitely be important... when it comes to men I am open and honest about what I prefer. It is sometimes difficult when they aren't into it, but, if you are up front about it I think it is better truly and besides you won't end up in the wrong relationship later on if you just tell them exactly what you like to begin with.
