Be nice and polite and friendly, give him your email address or phone number, but don't do the one-night-stand thing.

If he's sincere he'll follow it up.

Is there still a chance he's a jerk? Of course. But there's always that risk, whatever your size. Be careful, but not so careful you never take any chances.

I think the answer is that you don't know.

I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but obviously that's easier said than done, especially when it comes to your own emotions and feelings.

Ultimately though, nothing comes easy in life and in order to get what you really want, (i.e. the happiness of a relationship), you need to be willing to open yourself up a bit and risk being embarrassed.
